ABOUT YOUR NEXT CLUB
ALL FOR ONE
MAKING FRIENDS
Our lawn bowls club is full of friendly and sociable members, with competitions taking place across all ages and genders, between members, clubs and families.
Newcomers and experienced players alike compete for trophies and titles each year through our internal club competitions.
We also participate in inter-club friendlies and competitive matches throughout the season.
The club is run entirely by volunteers.
As with all clubs appointed officers head up a committee along with a raft of folk who maintain the clubhouse, green and grounds.

LANGUAGE AND SLANG
CONFUSED?
As with any sport or activity, there are some new terms to be learned, along with rules and laws that may need to be understood.
With lawn bowls, the rules are far less complex than many sports. the basic concepts can be learned fairly quickly, but, to become consistent in delivering a wood to the right place, that takes practice.
We have designed and prepared a leaflet that is a useful starting point for beginners.
This will give you a taste of lawn bowls and what it has to offer.

COMPETITIONS
Weather permitting, our green at Aston Clinton Bowls Club opens around the end of April. The season then runs through to the middle of September.
Every year members compete for the honour of winning a title.
We also play inter-club friendly matches of Lawn Bowls in Buckinghamshire throughout the season.
Currently, Andrew arranges some of these matches and competitions.
Aston Clinton Bowls Club also competes in an inter club league across Mid Buckinghamshire.
Some members of our club also enter county wide competitions as individuals, in pairs, triples or as a team of four.
There is also the opportunity for newcomers to try out this wonderful game in what is known as a roll up.
Players of all abilities just turn up and play against each other in scratch teams.
This is a great way to start playing lawn bowls in Buckinghamshire.
